The Drawers
In the bottom drawer of my fridge, I keep cheeses & meats. I prefer to keep these items in a drawer for a few reasons. First, I like to keep “cheese crumbs” contained in a drawer, where I can easily brush them out without having to wipe every shelf. Second, I love cheese, and wouldn’t hesitate to eat it as a snack each and every day. If I keep it in the bottom drawer, sometimes I forget it’s in there and choose something healthier, like an apple.
I try to keep hardier veggies in the produce drawer, like cabbage or broccoli, because they keep longer. If I forget to look in there for a few days, I don’t want to be attacked by an unpleasant situation.
I also keep fresh herbs in the produce drawer. To help them last longer, I wrap them in paper towel after washing. This keeps them fresher, longer.
